Should we get out of the boat? This is very interesting question. In my opinion I think that we should. Why you ask? This is putting out faith to the test. One that we would not normally think about.
Matthew 14:26-32 says: 26 When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost !” And they cried out in fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take courage, it is I;do not be afraid.” 28 Peter said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” 29 And He said, “Come !” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31 Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt ?” 32 When they got into the boat, the wind stopped.
We are suppose to doers of the Word and not just hearers. We are to be healing the sick, raising the dead, teaching the lost and serving in His name. Doing whatever is possible to make that happen. This is the commission that Jesus has set before us. He said to go out and make disciples in all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:19 19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
So this is the reason why we should get out of the boat, to be doers of the Word instead of hearers. To follow what Jesus has set before us. To do the will of God, bringing the lost to be added in the kingdom. So that all can be saved.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this. I have struggled with being able to be a doer as I have the fear of offending someone. I know that I should not, but sometimes it is not easy. Maybe someone could shed some light on this for me.
God Bless you all!
